Pike Brewing Company Naughty Nellie Golden Artisian Ale

This is the second beer from the Craft Beer A Month club. I got two beers each from Durango and two from Pike, so I figured I should switch it up a little. This one is ARTISIAN. Oooooohh. Fancy. Or something. Here we go!

The Verdict:

I can smell a bit of  hops, some malt, and some yeast. Smells like beer. Curious. (SARCASM) At least it smells balanced. It tastes rather balanced as well. The flavor is a bit hoppier than the smell, but only a bit. What’s that? Why, it’s our old pal, the spray and wash flavor! Unfortunately that’s the only flavor that lasts on the tongue. If it weren’t for that, this would have been a nice drinkable beer. Also not super flavorful, but more so than the last one.

What Have We Learned?

I’m pretty sure that spray and wash flavor comes from a certain type of hops. Or maybe HOW they hopped the beer. There’s a brewery that makes four (edit: FIVE?!?!) IPAs with only one kind of hops each in them. Maybe it’s time for another experiment!
